The Viking influence in Britain ended in 1066. Daily life became a mix of peasant farmers and wealthy landowners. During this period (1066-1485) the people of Craven saw the arrival of churches, castles (including Skipton Castle) and yards in the towns. The museum has a wide range of medieval objects including a leather shoe sole, a caltrop (a set of spikes thrown under horses’ hooves during battle) and a silver brooch.
